I bring over 25 years of experience working in social services from domestic violence, foster youth, child welfare systems, education settings, juvenile delinquency, people with disabilities, parents, children, families, LGBTQIA, social justice, and immigrant/multicultural populations.
My professional credentials include a master's in social work from San Francisco State University and a doctorate in clinical psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology of San Francisco.
I worked with clients’ issues ranging from depression, anxiety, family struggles, caregiver issues, childhood ADHD, school behavioral issues, domestic violence, child abuse, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, trauma, relationship struggles, caregiving, life adjustment issues, physical, developmental and learning disabilities.
As a queer BIPOC, I witnessed and experienced the marginalization of BIPOCs in disadvantaged communities. I personally work at being mentally healthy and fit, which is important for you to trust that I also do the work to be the best provider to my clients. I understand I am a helper in your healing processes, and you are the driver. I approach the work with honesty, respect, unconditional positive regard, and compassion for your journey. I practice meditation and Buddhist philosophy. I draw from various healing modalities from attachment theory, solution-focused therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, Buddhist philosophy, Mindfulness, and client-centered treatment.
My approach to treating clients starts with YOU the client. I want to know your goals and the issues you want to work on in therapy. Creating a trusting environment can help uncover difficulties in your life that keep you from enjoying and being the “best” you. I may gently reflect with you on potential issues based on your unique life. I approach your treatment as a team effort. We will work together to provide a safe place for your exploration and increase your understanding of different issues. It may be painful to uncover some areas in your life. However, it is helpful to work with an understanding and caring person together we can find solutions or resolutions to your struggles.
Personally, I believe that as people we continue to grow mentally and physically if we are open to growth, we can meet our greatest selves. My life path as a helper is to find ways to expand your understanding of your world, when we get wrapped up in our heads it can be difficult to find the light through our tunnel. Sometimes, we need help to become empowered to find solutions. Other times, we need to learn coping skills to accept our conditions to make our life improvements. I believe that we all deserve to be our best selves. When we feel emotionally stable... we feel better... we tend to feel happier...we feel content. If we choose to work together it will be an honor.
